The Growing Awareness of the Importance of Lung Cancer Screening

Canon Medical is delighted to see more and more countries taking decisive actions in the battle against lung cancer, exemplified by initiatives like this one introduced by the National Health Service England. British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak recently announced a new national lung cancer screening program targeting individuals between the ages of 55 and 74 who have a medical record that includes a smoking history. They will receive invitations for screenings and smoking cessation programs. As the PM himself stated at the program’s launch event, "Lung cancer screening will 'save thousands of people's lives... People would have seen lung trucks in supermarket car parks, like the one we are in today, make an enormous difference…” (Jun 26, 2023)
